LEARNING TASK 4 Directions: Explain the following lines from the poem considering the realities of life to support your explanation.

1.Lines 2-3
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
2. Lines 4-5
And looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth;
3. Line 6
Then took the other, as just as fair
4. Lines 7-8
And having perhaps the better claim,
Because it was grassy and wanted wear;
5. Lines 9-10
Though as for that the passing there
Had worn them really about the same,
6. Lines 11-12
And both that morning equally lay
In leaves no step had trodden black
7. Lines 14-15
Yet knowing how way leads on to way,
I doubted if I should ever come back.
8. Lines 16-17
I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
9. Line 19
I took the one less traveled by,
10. Line 20
And that has made all the difference.

Answer: 1. And sorry I could not travel both And be one traveler, long I stood.
The author is trying to say that he is not capable of traversing the two roads at the same time. So he decided to just choose the road that he feels right because he is but just one man.

2. And looked down one as far as I could To where it bent in the undergrowth
He tried to weigh his decision if what he is trying to travel is the right thing for him to do. Maybe he is contemplating it before he proceeds in that direction.

3. Then took the other, as just as fair
So now he finalizes his decision and proceeded to the path that he chose.

4. And having perhaps the better claim, Because it was grassy and wanted to wear
He thought to himself that he probably made the right choice because the path seems nice and promising.

5. Though as for that the passing there Had worn them really about the same.
The author is trying to say that whichever road it is, no matter what, will still yield the same results or outcome

6. Lines 11-12 And both that morning equally lay In leaves no step had trodden black
He didn’t look back and he realized that there is no turning back on the path that he had taken as the others did before him.

7. Lines 14-15 Yet knowing how way leads on to way, I doubted if I should ever come back
After thinking about the probabilities and possible outcomes, which may it be negative, he will not look back because it was his choice in the first place.

8. Lines 16-17 I shall be telling this with a sigh Somewhere ages and ages hence.
When the time comes when it’s his turn to share his journey, he will be talking about it with all his heart and honesty.

9. Line 19 I took the one less traveled by
He had chosen the difficult path, one that is not approved by many. He made a bold decision to take it with uncertainties.

10. Line 20 And that has made all the difference.
And his decision mattered the most for it brought him to where he is now. He will live his life accordingly and face whatever life may bring him.
